A 429-horsepower racing Supra is coming to us

Toyota's GAZOO Racing (GR) division has announced that it will begin the sale of the GR Supra GT4 racing to teams from March 2020 in Europe and August in North America.

Based on the new and sensational GR Supra 2020, this track-only car is developed and manufactured by Toyota Motorsport GmbH. Its resistance piece is a modified version of the 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder turbo engine, which develops 429 horsepower instead of 335.

All this comes with a seven-speed sport automatic transmission with steering wheel paddles, a limited-slip mechanical rear differential and an Akrapovic exhaust system.

At the body level, the front and rear wing are made of a natural fiber composite material, reducing the weight of the GR Supra GT4 to 1,350 kilograms (2,976 pounds). It should also be noted that the brakes receive six-piston racing stirrups in the front and four pistons in the rear.

A high-strength safety cage will be installed and the driver will be seated in an FIA-approved race seat with a six-point harness. Another thing: the steering wheel and the display behind it will be designed specifically for the competition.

Interested racing teams should contact TRD USA, which handles the sale of the GR Supra GT4 and customer service. The car is expected to cost 175,000 euros in Europe (by comparison, the regular GR Supra starts at 65,900 euros in France and $64,990 in Canada), but its price on the Atlantic side remains to be determined.
